Madison’s 2026–27 calendar stages the September opening by grade and adds a staff-only Monday after Thanksgiving. Its spring break is March 22–26, 2027, with several conference and professional learning dates applying to selected school levels.

Madison Metropolitan School District

4K, K, grades 6 and 9, and early childhood start September 1; all students September 2. November 30 is a staff-only day after the Thanksgiving weekend.

Madison’s school-level closure labels need attention

November 30 is staff-only after the November 25–27 fall break, extending students’ time away beyond Thanksgiving weekend. Other entries distinguish elementary, middle and high schools: a conference closure for one group does not necessarily close the others. September 1 opens 4K, kindergarten, grades 6 and 9, and early childhood, before all students attend September 2. The calendar marks June 10 as a full last student day rather than an early release.
