Illinois School Breaks 2026–2027

Chicago and Naperville 203 take different spring vacations in 2027. Chicago lists March 22–26, while Naperville’s named vacation runs March 29–April 6 and adjoins a separate March 26 spring holiday.

Chicago Public Schools

K–12 dates; preschool starts August 25 and ends June 10. January 4 is a professional development day, so it is not the student return date.

Naperville Community Unit School District 203

Revised June 20, 2026. March 26 is a separate spring holiday; January 4 is an institute day. Emergency days can extend the year through June 3.

Recess dates follow the linked calendars; adjacent staff days and holidays can extend a student's time away. “See official calendar” means that field has not been verified here. Recheck the source for revisions before arranging care or travel.

Compare the full spring block before coordinating two households

Chicago’s K–12 year runs August 24–June 11, with separate preschool start and end dates. Naperville begins August 13 and tentatively ends May 26, leaving emergency days through June 3. Both calendars identify January 4 as staff-only time after winter vacation. Naperville also labels certain election dates as e-learning days; those should not be counted as ordinary days without schoolwork.
