Louisiana School Breaks 2026–2027
Louisiana’s parish examples include a distinct Mardi Gras interruption in February 2027 as well as spring vacation. Jefferson Parish, St. Tammany, Caddo and Livingston do not give those two breaks identical lengths.

The calendar lists a Mardi Gras break February 5-12, 2027 and a fall break October 9-12, 2026; grades 1-8 start August 7, with other grades phased in August 10-14.
St. Tammany Parish Public Schools
August 6 and 7 are Smart Start days split by last name, with all students attending August 10; the calendar also lists Mardi Gras holidays February 8-12, 2027.
Caddo Parish Public Schools
The calendar lists Mardi Gras February 8-10, 2027 and a fall break October 12-13, 2026; the last day for students is a half day.
Livingston Parish Public Schools
The calendar lists Mardi Gras February 8-12, 2027 and a fall break October 8-9, 2026; it says students' last day would be May 25, 2027 if emergency minutes are not exhausted by May 26.

Mardi Gras and spring vacation are separate plans
Jefferson Parish lists Mardi Gras February 5–12, while St. Tammany and Livingston list February 8–12 and Caddo February 8–10. Spring then differs again: Jefferson’s March 25–30 closure is shorter than St. Tammany’s March 26–April 2 window. Livingston’s final student day depends on whether emergency minutes have been used. Staggered August starts also matter in Jefferson Parish and St. Tammany, where the first calendar opening is not the first full day for every grade or surname group.
