Texas School Breaks 2026–2027
Houston and Dallas ISD’s traditional calendars take different spring weeks in 2027: Houston lists March 8–12 and Dallas March 15–19. Dallas also ends the student year May 26, two days before Houston. Campus and extended-year programs need their own calendar checks.

Houston Independent School District
Calendar updated April 6, 2026. January 4 is a staff development day. Fifth Quarter and summer programs have separate June–July dates.
Dallas Independent School District — traditional
Traditional calendar; ADSY has a separate version. January 5 is professional development with no students. March 29 and April 19 are inclement weather days; May 26 is early release for all schools.
Recess dates follow the linked calendars; adjacent staff days and holidays can extend a student's time away. “See official calendar” means that field has not been verified here. Recheck the source for revisions before arranging care or travel.

Houston’s main calendar is separate from Fifth Quarter
Houston lists January 4 as staff professional development after winter recess and March 26 as a separate no-class day after the early-March spring break. The calendar also displays Fifth Quarter and summer learning dates in June and July. Those program dates should not be interpreted as extending every student’s regular school year. When comparing another Texas ISD or a campus-specific calendar, match the first/last student dates as well as the shared holidays.

Do Houston and Dallas share spring break in 2027?
Houston lists March 8–12; Dallas’s traditional calendar lists March 15–19, 2027. The weeks do not overlap.
Does Houston’s Fifth Quarter replace the May 28 student ending?
The calendar lists Fifth Quarter separately in June and July. May 28 is the regular last student day; program participation has its own schedule.
