Boston’s 2026–27 schedule has both February and April vacations, with Patriots’ Day joining the April school recess. The last student day is conditional on cancellations, so a June graduation date is not a substitute for the attendance calendar.

Calendar details that affect days off
Boston Public Schools
Grades 1–12; pre-K and kindergarten begin September 10. April 19 is separately closed for Patriots’ Day, so students are off April 19–23. January 4 is staff-only; students return January 5. Last day is conditional on no cancellations.

Boston’s holiday Mondays extend the named recesses
Boston lists February 16–19 as February recess after Presidents’ Day, and April 20–23 as spring recess after Patriots’ Day. Students return April 26. Winter recess ends January 1, but January 4 is a staff day and students return January 5. The main grades 1–12 opening is September 8; pre-K and kindergarten follow September 10. June 22 is the scheduled last day if cancellations do not require additional attendance.
